This is such a powerful verse in the Bible. Maybe keeping it in Greek gave it a little more kick, too. Everyone likes fancy letters. Especially squigglies. Translated, this verse says, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
I flippin love this verse. Love it. It's the message of God in one sentence. The logos (the "Word")- God- the Beginning- the essence of life itself became fleshy, pulpy, bodily. Makes me think of orange juice. The orange juice who lived with us. We saw him, testified to his glory and divinity- in which is all good, truth, and beauty. In goodness, truthfulness, and beauty, God goes retro on man. He goes back to the garden and walks with man again, eating oranges. The Christian faith is fascinating in a miraculous way simply for the fact that Jesus blows all our expectations away- and that's why I'm writing.
Who do we really encounter when we confront the logos? The New Testament describes the Truth as a Man. Truth is an unwavering personality. Jesus is God's application of Spirit to flesh. Jesus of Nazareth is relevant. And to that I say...
